Maharaja restaurant (Anno 1989) is the first and only Indian traditional restaurant in Tallinn.

Maharaja (translated as Grand King) hosted every day in his house an innumerable number of guests treating them with the best dishes found in his land. Up to two hundred cooks simultaneously operated in the kitchens of the palace, since the Indian art of cooking is extremely abundant and diverse.

Maharaja Indian restaurant in the heart of Tallinn, in the Town Hall Square, does fall behind as to the number of cooks, but not as to the skills to prepare the best dishes of the Indian cuisine following the ancient recipes and traditions to provide you, the visitors of Maharaja, with the best bellyful and refreshers.

Contrarily to a widespread myth the Indian food does not have to be hot and spicy. The basis of the Indian art of cooking consists in the ability to delicately handle the spices in order to bring out the maximum taste features of various foodstuffs. Spices in right proportion are beneficial; they possess antiseptic and healing characteristics.

Indian cuisine provides a wonderful assortment to vegetarians. The menu of our restaurant also has a wide selection of vegetarian food starting from the dishes made of Indian cottage cheese (paneer) to eggplants baked in tandoor, as well as naturally dal and basmati rice – the traditional everyday meal of a Hindu.
